Bishop James C. Jackson, New England Diocesan

Bishop-JC-Jackson“The Steps of a Good Man are Ordered by the Lord…….”

Bishop James C. Jackson was born in Greenville, South Carolina to the parents of the late Bishop Willie and Mother Ellen Jackson. His father was the founder of the local Way of the Cross Church of Christ in Newport News, Virginia. He was joined in holy matrimony to Mother Sophia Edwards Jackson on August 25, 1950. They are the parents of seven children; Claude, Solomon (deceased), Christina, Loletia, Terry, Eric and Daric (twins). All of his children are diligently working and helping their parents in the church today.

One can describe him as a “down-home” country preacher who is not swayed by the titles bestowed upon him. Also, he is one who stands firmly on the Apostolic Doctrine and the true Word of God. He was baptized in the Name of Jesus and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost in October of 1957. He has been working for the Lord every since that day. That’s why he teaches and preaches the true Word of God continually.

After accepting his call to the ministry, Bishop Jackson preached his first sermon which was entitled, “Oh Death Where is Thy Sting?” Due to the illness of his father in 1980, he became the official Pastor of the church. This transition has generated numerous accomplishments over the years for the church. The membership has grown from approximately 60 to more than 600 members. Properties were purchased, and annexes were added to support the youth activities. The sanctuary was renovated several times and additional rooms were added to accommodate the increased membership. Evangelistic teams were also established to recruit souls for the Lord. The church sponsors weekly tutorial classes, youth revivals, prayer revivals, and annual shut-in services. Our Bus Ministry was established in which two large coaches, one large school bus and four vans were purchased to transport the saints to the many conventions, out of town services, jubilees and weekly programs. In 1993, the church was overjoyed to attend a special program in honor of Bishop Jackson’s graduation, when he received his Doctorate of Divinity degree.

In addition to his accomplishments, two churches were established under his leadership: The Jackson Memorial Way of the Cross Church in Suffolk, Virginia, where Elder Wilford Banks, Sr. is the Pastor and another small mission, The Cross and Crown Way of the Cross located in Aulander, North Carolina, where Elder Willie Smith is the Pastor. His has more accomplishments which are too numerous to list here.

In 1989, this fearless pastor was consecrated as a Bishop. Since then, Bishop Jackson has excelled through the many ranks of the organization. He presently serves as the Vice Presiding Bishop for the Way of the Christ Church of Christ International, which is comprised of over 70 churches. Last but not least, he is the Vice Bishop for the Southern Region and the Diocesan Bishop for the New England Diocese. Bishop Jackson’s ultimate goal consists of continuing to work for the Lord so that he may earn his Crown of Life.
