Bishop Johnny L. Alston, North Carolina Diocesan
Bishop Johnny L. Alston was born in February 1934, the second oldest child to the late John Macey and Esther Perry Alston in Vance County of North Carolina. He received his education through the Vance County Public School System. Bishop Alston was married to the late Mother Geneva E. Alston for 53 years and were blessed with twelve children. Bishop Johnny Alston now shares a life of companionship and love with Lady Joyce B. Alston.Being Captivated by the spirit of our Lord as the choir sang, “Oh, how I Love Jesus” as he walked by Bible Way Church Brooklyn, NY, Bishop was unknowingly being moved into God’s calling. He joined the church under the leadership of the late Bishop Joseph Moore in 1956 where later he received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost and was baptized in the name “Jesus”. In 1959 Bishop was ordained an Elder at Bible Way Church Worldwide by the late Bishop Joseph Moore and returned to Henderson, NC under the influence of God’s orders.
After returning to Henderson, NC in 1961 Bishop Alston founded and Pastored the Whole Truth Church of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. As he continued to follow the guidance and leadership of God; in 1967 Whole Truth merged with Greater Ransom Way of the Cross Church of Christ. For a brief period Bishop serve as interim pastor of Full Gospel Way of the Cross.
In 1970 Bishop Johnny Alston was the appointed Pastor by none other than the late Bishop John L. Brooks. He was officially installed as Pastor of Greater Ransom Way of the Cross Church of Christ in 1986. He continues to serve being led by visions, dreams and prophecy. Bishop Alston and his congregation worked diligently for seven years before moving to their present edifice located at 90 South Lake Lodge Road Ext., Henderson, NC. As he continues to visualize and birth new ministries within the surrounding area he constantly remains steadfast in the faith knowing that “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord……..” Psalms 37:23. He is a true man of God exemplifying holiness. He has a strong passion for the youth and prays that the word of God will keep them grounded in truth and enriched in a life full of obedience, love, and respect. Bishop’s prayer is “for Greater Ransom to be house of praise and become so anointed with God that we become a lighthouse for all to see. Then all will know that God is real and He is Lord God Almighty!”
