2nd Vice Presiding Bishop

Bishop Darnell L. Easton

Bishop Darnell Larry Easton was born in Baltimore, MD on October 28, 1951 to the late Joseph and Viola Easton. He was educated in the Anne Arundel County Public School System. After graduating from High School he attended Bowie State College studying Business Administration. On September 14th, 1974 he was married to the love of his life Missionary Margo Easton and from their union they were blessed with three wonderful children Shawn(Keisha), Monica(Kevin) and Cherise; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Talya, Joshua, Josiah and Kyle.

Bishop Easton started his journey at Bethel at the age of 3. He was a baptized believer at the early age of 10, and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at 13. He possessed a zeal and devotion towards the ministries in his Church. As a young man, Bishop Easton began to serve in many capacities at the Bethel Way of the Cross Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Bishop Jacob A. Green. He and his wife started the New Members Ministry 34 years ago and the ministry continues to flourish to this day. He also served on the Deacon Board, Trustee Board, the Intercessory Prayer Ministry, the Care Ministry, Vice President of the Youth for Christ Ministry, Youth for Christ Advisor, Coordinator of Bethel’s Prison Ministry, and former Director of the Intermediate Choir.

In April 1975, Bishop Easton was called into the ministry. A few years later, he was ordained a minister by the late Bishop Green, whose favorite scripture concerning Bishop Darnell’s life was 2 Timothy 3:15: “ And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” Having served loyally, faithfully, and with integrity in his calling, God saw fit to elevate Minister Easton to the ministry of Elder, in August 1996. Shortly thereafter, he was consecrated to the office of First Assistant Pastor, blessed to serve under his brother, the late Bishop Allen H. Easton, until the Lord called Bishop Allen home. In January 2003, Bishop Darnell Easton was installed as Pastor of the Bethel Way of the Cross Church of Christ, in Huntingtown, MD. He was elevated to the office of Bishop in August 2008, and in 2010, he was selected to serve as Auxiliary Bishop for the WOTCC, Intl. National Deacons and Deacon Wives. On Friday, August 8, 2014 during the 70th Holy Convocation, Bishop Easton was consecrated and elevated to the Executive Board of Bishops of The Way of the Cross Church of Christ, International. On Saturday, September 27, 2014, Bishop Easton was consecrated and elevated to the office of Diocesan of The Way of the Church of Christ, International Mid-Atlantic Diocese.

Bishop Easton is an anointed, effective and aspiring Man of God. He gives life to one of his favorite scriptures, which is close to his heart- St. Luke 4:18-19- “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Bishop Easton is a man of wisdom and good character with a strong love for people and their welfare. He attracts the young people as well as the old. He has the God-given ability and is forever willing to reach people of all walks of life. His desires are to do the will of God, to serve the community and the people of God, and to strengthen families so that they will be a positive influence in society. He proclaims and guides God’s people in defeating the enemy and declaring God to be victorious, at all cost. He is an evangelist and an intercessor, whose gifts equip him for the great works of God.
